Minhang Economic and Technological Development Zone
Minhang Economic and Technological Development Zone is an export processing zone set up 10 years ago by the state to accommodate foreign invested manufacturing enterprises. Located in the south-west of Shanghai and on the upper reaches of the Huangpu River, the zone is only 30 km away from the centre of the city, 47 km away from the international container wharf, 27 km away from the Hongqiao International Airport, and only 15 km away from Guangang Wharf constructed to receive 10,000-ton-class ships. The nearby feeder railway line is linked with the national railway network. Thus, transportation is convenient.
Public infrastructure within the zone is comprehensive. There is a complete network of roads in the zone. Supplies of electricity, water and gas are abundant. Drainage, sewage, telecommunications facilities are readily available.
The administrative building set up in the zone has thirty service institutions, providing foreign invested enterprises with (one stop) service, which consists of customs office, commodity inspection, taxation, banks, insurance, courier service, containerised traffic, storage, consultancy, tickets agents, etc. At present, there are 110 factories of all trades having been put into operation, which are invested by 17 different foreign countries and regions, with good economic benefits. Shanghai Minhang United Development Co., Ltd. is engaged in the development and construction of the infrastructure in the zone, selling or renting factory buildings, houses, and apartment buildings, contracting for engineering projects, handling import & export business for enterprises in the zone, investing in equity joint ventures and co-operative projects, recommending partners for equity joint ventures or co-operative ventures, providing consulting and agency services to the foreign invested projects entrusted, as well as providing other services relating to storage, transport, living, etc.
