Built in 1939, the villa located at 20 Lane 18, Gaoan Road was originally the residence of Rong Desheng (a famous Chinese industrialist) and now it is the site of Xuhui District Children's Palace. The three–storey garden residence topped by a flat roof was constructed under modern style. The construction represents the so-called streamline style (popular in the 1930s and 1940s) except the two poles that support the porch in the 1st floor and demonstrate a reminiscent style.
