The "China Cup" Garment Design Competition

The "China Cup", a special competition for young designers from national different schools was expected to cultivated China's future fashion stars.

The competition was set up two gold medals, four silvers, six bronzes and eight excellent awards. The participants from Shanghai won all gold and silver medals of knitwear and non-knitwear collections.


Solitary Goose in Desert

"Solitary Goose in Desert" was the gold medal awarded composition of non-knitwear series in china Cup Garment Design competition in 1997. It was designed by Mr. Hu Lixian and Mr. Zheng Tong from Australian-funded Shanghai Yuanfang Clothes Manufacturer. Oxhair chosen as its fabrics was dyed dark-gray mingled with earthsandy color. Though the material seemed a bit bold and tough, its stretch and figure entirely highlighted the female elegant attractiveness.

The bronze medal of "Gold Scissors" was awarded to Mr. Hu and Mr. Zheng, once the candidates of the gold medal for young designers.

Mr. Chen Chuan, the gold medal winner of non-knitwear collections served in Shanghai Silkwear Exp. & Imp. co. His inspiration of the awarded work "Happy Land" came from the folk papercut popular in the 30s of 20th century which mixed the occidental cultures via the noble terms. He chose the black-white fabrics patterned by deerskin-carved-flowers and computer embroidery to empress a concept of the international cross-cultures.

Mr. Chen was the winner both of Xiafei Cup and Jean's Cup, the national-level fashion design competitions.
