Waibaidu Bridge, which spans over the Suzhou creek, has been well- known since it was built in 1907. It is 52.16m in length and 18.3m in width and has been acknowledged as the best bridge of steel construction for its elegant structure and grand looks on No. 1 East Zhongshan Road. It got the name for it was the place where the passengers were berried across the river without paying.
